Bucher Industries to divest component manufacturing operations in Niederweningen, Switzerland
Bucher Industries and family-owned Bühlmann AG, Berschis, Switzerland, reached an agreement for the sale of the Niederweningen component manufacturing operations to Bühlmann AG. Bühlmann AG will continue manufacturing at the Niederweningen site. The sale is scheduled for completion in October 2005.

The sale covers the Bucher Municipal Division's large and small parts welding and machining operations of Bucher-Guyer AG's Promec business unit. Promec employs approximately 60 people in production and generated 2004 sales of CHF 28 million, more than half of which were to external customers. The sale does not affect the spare parts and logistics operations at the Niederweningen facility. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. This transaction marks the final step in Bucher Municipal's concentration on its core municipal vehicle business.

Bühlmann AG is a family-owned company engaged in machining large and small parts. The transaction will enhance Bühlmann AG's operations ideally, strengthening its market position as a system manufacturing supplier in German-speaking countries. Bühlmann AG is taking over the component manufacturing operations along with 54 employees. It will continue and expand activities at the Niederweningen site, adding another powerful business to Niederweningen industrial park.

Bucher Industries is a global technology group with leading market positions in specialty areas of mechanical and vehicle engineering. The company's operations include specialized agricultural machinery, municipal vehicles, wine and fruit juice production plants, hydraulic components, and production equipment for the container glass industry. Bucher Industries' shares are traded on SWX Swiss Exchange (SWX: BUC).
