Today the UK Competition Commission formally cleared the acquisition of Johnston Sweepers Ltd. completed by Bucher Industries at the end of March 2005.

The clearance was expected by Bucher Industries and did not contain any conditions. The integration of Johnston Sweepers' European and Australian municipal vehicle activities, which was delayed by almost six months, will now start immediately. The acquisition not only strengthens Bucher Municipal's position in Europe and provides access to the Australian market, but also creates growth potential in North America and Southeast Asia. Bucher Industries reported on the acquisition in press releases dated 18 February, 31 March and 7 April 2005.

Bucher Industries is a global technology group with leading market positions in specialty areas of mechanical and vehicle engineering. The company's operations include specialized agricultural machinery, municipal vehicles, wine and fruit juice production plants, hydraulic components, and production equipment for the container glass industry.
