Bucher Industries to divest component manufacturing operations in Niederwenigen, Switzerland
Bucher Industries divested its Niederweningen component manufacturing operations. The Swiss buyer, Emil Suter Maschinenfabrik AG in Seon will continue manufacturing at the Niederweningen site.

The divestment was achieved with Suter AG after a first attempt had to be stopped due to financing problems of another potential buyer last year. The sale covers the Bucher Municipal Division's large and small parts welding and machining operations of Bucher-Guyer AG's Promec business unit. Promec employs 55 people in production and generated 2005 sales of over CHF 20 million, more than half of which were to external customers. The sale does not affect the spare parts and logistics operations at the Niederweningen facility. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Suter AG is engaged in machining large and small parts. The transaction will enhance operations ideally, strengthening Suter's market position as a system manufacturing supplier in German-speaking countries. Suter AG is taking over the component manufacturing operations along with all employees. The Niederweningen operations will be integrated in the newly formed company Promec-Estech AG and will operate under this name from October 2006 onwards.

Bucher Industries is a global technology group with leading market positions in specialty areas of mechanical and vehicle engineering. The company's operations include specialized agricultural machinery, municipal vehicles, wine and fruit juice production plant, hydraulic components, and production equipment for the glass container industry. Bucher Industries' shares are traded on SWX Swiss Exchange (SWX: BUCN).
